AOP part 60: Maleficent

sets wardrobe sequence rail arrange Simon Q. Walden, FilmPhotoAcademy.com, sqw, FilmPhoto, photography

As you can see, Maja and I are working a series of shots, building elements as we go along. This is a planned process. We had worked through her wardrobe and built a plan of: plain outfit; with make-up; with horns.

It is important to do this because cleaning that make-up was going to take it's own while and actually so does getting into a full latex catsuit.

If I can I like to get a model's wardrobe onto a clothes rail. This gives me some rough sense of size and shape for each of them. Then I can arrange them into sets.

With them hanging on the rail it is easy to see what can go with what. Where you have several variations of theme you can decide which ones to lose.

Once I have the sets organised I then arrange them into sequence. The sequence might be based on make-up needs, lighting setups, location or backdrops.

What I am aiming to do is minimise down-town between sets and especially that we are not needing to change make-up style too often.

Incidentally, corsets always go last because they always leave marks on the skin which can take a while to fade.
