You can create your own reflecting pool and shoot it, even in your back garden

It is suprisingly easy to set up a reflecting pool like this one. It is four pieces of 2 x 4 nailed together and a large plastic sheet laid over them. Fill with water to just a couple of inches and there you have it.

Obviously the main concern is safety - mains-powered strobes and water do not mix. The strobes were positioned far enough away that if they fell they could not reach the water. They were also weighted down. They are also of course on full RCD trips.

The principal light is the honeycombed strobe on the left, the softbox on the right provides a little fill at a very low level.

While the long shot at the top shows the power of a complete reflection and the way the graphical elements of the figure work in symmetry, the close up provides something different altogether.

While this long shot deliberately breaks away from the symmetrical reflection.
