Critique for Peter

Peter was an attendee at one of our recent RPS Art Nude Workshops. Every attendee can submit images for critique afterwards - these are Peter's.

A nice low key nude shot, technically spot on except for the nose crossing into the arm.

Cracking shot, love the way that Kirsty is set against the red, the pose shape properly reflects the shape of the cloth. The echoes of the pose in the legs and the arms is great. The skin tone looks a off - and while I'm a believer in warming skin tones this is a bit orange.

brilliant. Really nice colour toning. Maybe just lighten the leading foot a little as it disappears otherwise.

Again nice colour toning, though the image isn't as strong as the previous shot.

The crease on the waist, the pushed stomach and the lost back leg are defects though.

Lots of things going on but this just does not add up to a picture. The floppy hand, the awkward legs are not good in the pose. The separation between the cloth and Katra is too big.

Really nice colour combination - not one I would have chosen but it works really well. Shame about the crease on the waist. This should be cropped just above the knee I think though this may leave the image too square.

Hmmm, first glance an interesting image, but second look and all I can see is a massive hip. It's a combination of pose and camera position (and possibly being too close).

Which is a shame because I like the way you have seen the marks on the wall and reflected the pose shape into the marks on the wall - very well seen.

The trouble with this shot is the camera angle, it need to have been shot with the camera lower.

I like the way you've treated this.

Same as above, use the same treatment.

Not a bad homage. The legs are not quite right. because its ended up with the legs looking a little "stumpy".

Looks like it was shoot too wide and too close as well.

Very nice control of lighting.

So close, but not quite, the light is just too soft to really make this zing. The shadows are all in the right place, but the soft light is not giving enough definition and texture.

The fill light is slightly too strong, so there is not enough contrast.

Some good work here - I especially like your colour treatments, very effective and very well done.
