Good point Chris. This typically applies where the camera is being used to video a concert and the laser sweeps past it burns out whole lines on the cameras sensor.

I guess this could also apply if the shutter just happens to be open during a still shot when the laser comes by. Obviously with video the shutter is open all the time which makes it worse.

Also, I don't think this is restricted to just DSLR's, I think your iPhone would be just as at risk

Be cafeful around shows with lasers as they can damage sensors. Youtube has a ton of information on DSLR and lasers.

Simon,

Thank you very much for those helpful comments. It's all in the detail and you have seen those little things which passed me by. However with only limited time to shoot each model there was little time to set things up just so. The two days were a great experience to one who is not used to studio work.

Thanks for the critique. It always useful to get some feedback after a workshop. I must admit that some of the images I submitted were for the purpose of a 'sanity check'; did some else have the same opinion, as myself, about how an image could be improved; did they pick up on the same problems. I find it a useful improvement technique, if the criticisms are made constructively.

Oh lordy Simon where are you digging these out from? That is a terrible photograph! We need to shoot again soon so you don't have to keep going back to my first modelling attempts!! :-) Though I still love the nudes on the tiger rug and sky background, they're awesome :-)

Thanks for the critique Simon. Very valuable feedback as usual. The workshop was very enjoyable, and the use of two models was definitely beneficial. I look forward to the next one!

Robert (ps is there another Robert as there's a separate critique for his images or maybe it's someone else?
