AOP part 19: Portrait

Up to this point I had largely been shooting full or three-quarter length images with Maja. Clearly though her fine features, symmetrical face and perfectly applied makeup meant I should really make sure I got some portraits too.

We had some lovely soft light coming in from the northern facing windows, so all that was really required was to guide Maja in turning her head in and out of the window light to create the different lighting styles.

Then it was down to some direction and Maja's acting talents to produce an interesting range of expressions.

I love the serenity of this shot with it's really tight crop and perfectly gentle expression. The lighting has very little contrast and has also had a bit of a soft focus blur applied in post processing.
