AOP part 36: The Boxes
Ten years ago I created a large body of work around people bring trapped inside cells. This was exhibited in various places as both still images and a short video.
I still come back the theme every now and then. A little hole in the wall allowed me to explore a new aspect.
I like the way that small spaces force the model to genuinely work the space in a new way. It also means they can create poses normally impossible because if the way the frame supports them.
The important thing through the shoot is that no part of the body can extend beyond the frame, otherwise joining them together becomes an almost impossible problem.
On the next two pages I will talk about how the shots are then merged together.
This is an excerpt from "Anatomy of a Photoshoot" which gives a complete breakdown of two days shooting with a full in-depth step by step review of everything that I do.
