You can use chains to allow your model to create new shapes

Anything that the model can hang on can give you great new poses to explore. These chains are hanging from my studio's ceiling - 6 metres above the floor - so despite the crop which makes them look short they are actually very long.

Pool Side

These shots were taken in a temporary indoor pool in the studio, but could have been as easily done just by soaking our model in water first. Although you can see reflections in the water in some of the shots it's not a major part of the image.

Strong background colours bring subjects forward and create drama

Basic colour theory says that warm colours approach and cool, blue colours recede in an image. That's why a pale blue or mottled white and pale blue background has been a staple of portrait photography for years.

Critique for Ken

Before I start, it's nice to see a completely black and white set. It's strange how few black and white's we see from these workshops these days, I think because it comes out of the camera in colour people tend to get stuck there.
