Why f11?

Interesting question came up the other day - why do we go for f11 as the "preferred" aperture on our lens?

You can put a plastic bag over your lens and create fascinating images.

You know long before photoshop was invented photographers were always manipulating images - right from the very early days montage, HDR printing, camera trickery, double exposures all those tricks were in place.

You can pick up scaffold poles cheap and do interesting things with them.

This sequence of images is shot around a scaffold pole hanging horizontally from a ceiling fitting. The fitting is very secure to allow the model to really hang from the pole.
