I wish I had an industrial sized vacuum wrapping machine - I have thought I could achieve some great shots with vacuum wrapped models! This is a simple decorator's plastic sheet (which are huge and very useful in shoots) wrapped around NikiMarie.
I was interested in exploring two different aspects: skin and body parts being pressed into the plastic and secondly the nature of being trapped and wrapped.
The bright red spot at the top of the frame acts like a hook from which the whole of the encased body hangs from.
All the way through the image you have this contrast of straight lines in the plastic and the curving figure within it.
The plastic adds a nice level of translucency which hints at the figure but never fully reveals it until we get to the face where the plastic is pulled tight. The highlights in the plastic giving a strong directional pull into the face.
Safety first, there are actually several small and one large air hole around NikiMarie's face. Further, despite how it looks NikiMarie is control of pulling the plastic to the face, so she can also easily pull it away.
Lighting is similar to any other shiny material, lots of light sources to give specular highlights all over the material. There is obviously a red and white light source at the top of frame, but there are also further blue and white lights below the base of frame.
