AOP part 24: Rim Light - Front Light - Fail

So while we are on the subject of failures, what went wrong here?

I wanted to use the door frame as both a compositional device and for something for Maja to pose against. I wanted to use the bright windows behind Maja to give me a rim light effect. Those bits worked okay.

What has let the image down has been the frontal light source - another window behind the camera.

It has given very flat lighting to Maja's body and has basically removed any drama and interest from the shot.

It has also washed out the lovely deep blue colours in the corset as well.

As a secondary problem the dark areas top and bottom aren't really bringing the right contrasts against the overall figure.

So, what did I do next?
