AOP part 53: Aerial Ropes

Well of course those trapdoors where placed for a reason! And it just so happens that Maja is a trained aerialist!

That's the good news, the bad news is that the lighting conditions weren't really great for this and neither was the backdrop.

I wanted to shoot as low down as possible to emphasise Maja floating above the floor. However, that meant the dark timbers of the ceiling really intruded into the shot, so I had to compromise to get the best I could.

With a shoot like this you have to be guided by your subject's comfort and safety. Maja checked the rigging thoroughly before starting. We were both aware that the rough rope wasn't ideal and would soon leave marks on the skin and so we did not spend a long time on this.

Also, while Maja is moving into position it can involve a lot of swinging around and open legs. Clearly Maja has to have full refusal on any image she is unhappy with from the point of view of discretion.
