AOP part 34: Avoiding the Obvious
Now with a big post like this right in the shot it would be so tempting to do the obvious and use it for some pole dancing type shots.
But, that would have been obvious...
But, it is a feature in it's own right, so I looked to find other ways of using the pillar.
I like the way the legs, body and chair make a U shaped composition. It's not a shape that is used that often compositionally, but it can work.
If you are ever having a mind-blank as to how to compose a model, think about some key letters: S, T, I, L, O, X, A, C, K, V, Y (or "IVY TAX LOCKS") if that helps...
These give you some basic compositional shapes to work from. These can either be whole body or smaller crops of part of the body.
